Earnest, 64, of Townley, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.The family will receive friends today, April 30, 2019, at 6 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Patton Hill Cemetery. Christine Burton Hendrix - Daily Mountain Eagle

She loved the Lord. She influenced, befriended, and touched the lives of many people and is now safe in the arms of Jesus.Christine was born in Jasper on September 14, 1922 to Maggie and Walter Burton. She had two brothers, Elmer Clark Burton and Walter Leo Burton and two sisters, Olive Buel Burton and Maggie Burton Hardin.Christine married Howard after a whirlwind courtship of 8 days during wartime and celebrated 55 years with him while raising four children. She was a charter member of the Riverchase Church of Christ in Hoover, and more recently a member of the Dalraida Church of Christ in Montgomery.She was loved and cherished by her family and many friends. She worked with the State of Alabama until her retirement at age 65. She loved gospel music and playing her piano. Along with her four children, she had 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Hendrix; daughter, Judith Ann Hardy and son, Dennis Howard Hendrix and twin daughters, Carolyn and Christine. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Earle Godwin (David) and their sons, Jeffrey Godwin and Gregory Godwin and grandson, Mason Holladay and by her daughter, Jean Elizabeth Hooker and her husband, Ben Hooker. She is also survived by Judy’s children, Jennifer Lynn Eifert (Sean) and their sons, Dylan and Connor and Rachel Claire White and her sons, Dalton and Philip. Also, by Dennis’ children, Megan Hendrix, Morgan Hendrix and Nicky Hendrix (Jenna).The memorial service will be on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper, with visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. The burial will follow at Oak Hill cemetery.Collins-Burke Funeral Home, Jasper; 205-384-5571 ...
